Thumbs up bandwidth usage of a voip server

Hi,

I have found on many voip forums, that there is an offer to run 1000 calls for the system, but they are offering bandwidth like 2mbps, 5mbps and 10mbps.
There is no way you can run 1000 calls (with full proxy mode) on 10mbps bandwidth. You can do only signalling, allowing the RTP directly.

Attached is the bandwidth usage of an actual server that is doing 400-450 calls on full proxy mode.

If you look at the graph, almost everyday you see it reaching 28mbps. The graph shows incoming and outgoing in the same diagram in different colors, so what you see as 14mbps is double to that, means its using 28mbps. If you take a closer look, you will see that on fridays, it almost reached 32mbps.
Bigger bandwidth connection (100mbps) will give your traffic a burst and not cause delays or ping timeouts.

If you are serious about running your voip, always put your server on a 100mbps connection.
